A key to learning for young children is a stable home environment, so a partnership has been established aiming to provide just that on Madison’s North Side.

The Northside Early Childhood Zone was announced Monday by the partners in the effort, including the Madison School District, United Way of Dane County, the Oscar Rennebohm Foundation and city and county leaders.

The goal, according to Dane County Executive Joe Parisi, is to bring county and community resources together in the interest of families, with housing and employment assistance for parents to help nurture the youngsters. Read More

Madison, Wisconsin- The Boys & Girls Club of Dane County (BGCDC) in partnership with the Urban League of Greater Madison (UGLM) and The Oscar Rennebohm Foundation (ORF) will come together to announce a $300,000 grant from the ORF that will help both agencies boost internships, employment and career training over the next three years. The grant will support the two organizations as they collaborate to leverage each agency’s strengths on a two-generational strategy to build a world-class Dane County workforce that is inclusive now and into the future.

The BGCDC will provide 675 paid internships, career exploration and employment connections over the next 3 years for high school and college students enrolled in BGC Programming. These young people will be paid $8.00 to $15.00 an hour. The ULGM will more than double the number of low-income parents and other adults served through its employment and training programs with a goal of ensuring at least 1,500 people secure new or better family-supporting jobs by 2020. The Oscar Rennebohm Foundation has donated $50,000 to build splash parks in Reindahl and Elver Park on Madison’s East and West side respectively.

MADISON, Wis. (October 10, 2011) – Meriter announced today that it has received a $2 million gift from the Oscar Rennebohm Foundation, which will be used to help support the partnership between Meriter and UW Health as they seek to advance patient care, research, education and advocacy in women’s health.The gift was announced during a recognition event last Thursday honoring the Oscar Rennebohm Foundation at the Madison Club.

“We are very grateful for this generous gift from the Oscar Rennebohm Foundation because it will help us continue the high level of care in women’s health that Meriter and UW physicians partner on every day,” said Dr. Geoffrey Priest, Meriter’s chief medical officer.  The program has operated jointly since 1957. The Oscar Rennebohm Foundation made its second $1 million gift to the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing in advance of the Badgers’ Spring Football Game.

The gift was announced at the May game, but it was anonymous. The Rennebohm Foundation wanted to spark people’s interest in the School’s plan to build a new home – and it has, said Mary Gulbrandsen (MS NUR ’74), a Rennebohm board member. Foundation members have continued to meet with other Wisconsin health-care and business leaders to encourage gifts for the building and strategic growth at the School, and they are seeing results, she said. MADISON – The Oscar Rennebohm Foundation has announced a gift of $100,000 to expand the work of the UW Center for Nonprofits in the School of Human Ecology.

Robin Douthitt, dean of the School of Human Ecology says, “We believe the relationship between the Center for Nonprofits and the Oscar Rennebohm Foundation embodies the best of what public-private partnerships accomplish, ultimately leading both to new vistas.”

The Foundation’s gift also represents the first lead gift that can be matched by the Morgridge Center for Public Service Matching Gift challenge program. Read More

MADISON, Wis. – Two major gifts announced Friday provide a major boost to the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing and its Power of Nursing Campaign to build and staff a new Nursing Science Center.

Connie Curran (’69 BS NURS) has made a $300,000 gift, and the Oscar Rennebohm Foundation has made a $1 million gift to the campaign, which will build and equip a new Nursing Science Center located in the heart of UW-Madison’s vibrant health science campus and recruit and support the faculty necessary for the School’s growth.
